मैं सोचता हूं कि वर्तमान जीवन से 'संत' शब्द निकाल दिया जाना चाहिए। यह इतना पवित्र शब्द है कि इसे यूं ही किसी के साथ जोड़ देना उचित नहीं है। मेरे जैसे आदमी के साथ तो और भी नहीं, जो बस एक साधारण-सा सत्यशोधक होने का दावा करता है, जिसे अपनी सीमाओं और अपनी त्रुटियों का अहसास है और जब-जब उससे गुटिया! हो जाती है, तब-तब बिना हिचक उन्हें स्वीकार कर लेता है और जो निस्संकोच इस बात को मानता है कि वह किसी वैज्ञानिक की भांति, जीवन की कुछ 'शाश्वत सच्चाइयों' के बारे में प्रयोग कर रहा है, किंतु वैज्ञानिक होने का दावा भी वह नहीं कर सकता, क्योंकि अपनी पद्धतियों की वैज्ञानिक यथार्थता का उसके पास कोई प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण नहीं है और न ही वह अपने प्रयोगों के ऐसे प्रत्यक्ष परिणाम दिखा सकता है जैसे कि आधुनिक विज्ञान को चाहिए।

While the dominant trend in recent British art has toyed with nihilism, the mass media have done the opposite. Technology has been used to manufacture meaning. The camera gives us a snapshot of events and allows us to imagine we are seeing things clearly and plainly. By turning the chaos of sensation into a series of definite images, it enables us to find meaning when it may in fact be fugitive, or even absent. The truth is that we do not know why some people commit hideous crimes, but living in this knowledge is intolerable because it leaves the world a random place. The media cater to our need for order. When the camera is used to construct an icon of evil, it is not simply giving vent to punitive fantasies, but being used to maintain meaning in our lives.

And their (India’s) media is heading for ad-backed celebrity hell faster, and more comprehensively, than ours.

When I see India's superstar TV and newsprint personalities, I never think they bring any order or meaning to my life but I always feel they are smart, wealthy, sophisticated- like Avery Jessup of 30 Rock and totally unlike me- but I don't like what they do and I can always switch off the TV.

I never thought they were so corrupt.

The best comment on this has probably come from unsung Sudhir Tailang who according to me is the best political cartoonist drawing for a national newspaper in India today. If Mr. Tailang were to focus his attention on life beyond politics he might scale even greater artistic heights.

No.1: Don’t destroy life. We all have our life, The Universe is life itself. We should not destroy that of which we are a part. We should not destroy life in vain.



No.2: Don’t steal. We have our own place in the world; our own position and property. We should not invade another s position. We should not steal.



No.3: Don’t desire too much. We all have desire. Desire is an important factor in our life. But excessive desire is not the origin of happiness. It destroys our composure.Too much desire tends to make our life unhappy. So Gautama Buddha recognized the existence of desire but he warned against too much indulgence. He advised us not to desire too much.



No.4: Don’t lie. We are living in the Universe. The Universe is the truth itself. Truth and honesty are bound together. If we want to find the truth we must be honest. If we are not honest we can never find our real situation in the Universe.



No.5: Don’t live by selling liquor. This seems rather strange as a religious precept. I feel that the original concept might have been not to drink liquor. Perhaps as Buddhism spread from India to countries like China and Japan this precept was altered to suit local conditions. In those northern countries alcohol was considered an important aid to survival during the cold winter months. So personally I feel that it is important not to drink, but we should recognize the precept in the form that it has come to us from the past.



No.6: Don’t discuss failures of Buddhist priests and laymen. As Buddhists we try our best to live and practice the Buddhist life. In doing so we often make mistakes. This is natural. Our mistakes come directly from our efforts. This may sound strange, but it is the fact in our life. So when we see the mistakes of others we should not be critical, for their mistakes are only the product of their efforts in this life.



No.7: Don’t praise yourself or berate others. Modern psychology tells us that most of us have some sort of superiority or inferiority complex. I think this is basically true,and because of these personal inclinations we are prone to praise or criticize ourselves and other people. But we are all human beings. If we recognize the true situation it is impossible to blame others for their faults, and praising ourselves is needless—it is a waste of breath.



No.8: Don’t begrudge the sharing of Buddhist teachings and other things, but give them freely. Our tendency is to want more than we have. We want more teachings; we want more things. But when we see our situation clearly we realize that we are part of the wide and glorious Universe. We have everything we need already. In such a situation it is natural to give. We want to share the teachings and what wealth we have with others. It is a natural activity of our true situation.



No.9: Don’t become angry. Many of us are prone to become angry. It seems a natural outcome of our personality, but in fact anger is not our natural state—it is not our natural condition. In Buddhism we seek to maintain our composure. To be composed is our natural condition. To be natural is the teaching of Gautama Buddha.



No.10: Don’t abuse the three supreme values. Buddha, Dharma and Sangha are the foundation of Buddhist life. We must honor them, esteem them and devote ourselves to them.

My Defination of DHARM

I define Dharm as a kartavya for and aastha in any thing. If you believe in a stone and start doing seva as vaishnav's do to krishna's murti,you start feeling the emotions for that piece of stone or murti, which we describe as a pranpratishtha...this is what make us Insaan instead of robot. Only this Aastha, Prem,Karuna,sneh bhav..can make world free from hatred, jealously, bloodbath... !!!

Our country is speacial because of its diversity, we all are so different from each other but united. It is a COMPOSITE society where we all belong to different states, different castes,different religion, different strata or financial background. We have different, eating habits, dress, traditions, language,thinking, climate, topographical situation, crops...so many things...still we are united and live with love, effection and respect. GANDHIJI ON CRICKET

Well Good news that Aditi won the only prize given for photography in NID college festival on feb13/2010...amongst 15 teams....topic was 5 self potraits...She shot five activities which she believes,...she has!!...A woman worshipping a cow(I believe), a dog sleeping on the cot in a aangan(I leiseure),a street side barber cutting someone's hair..( I indulge), a bird sitting on the top of a big tree..(I seek), slogan written on the wall and a postbox in the side(I speak) and a paragraph about it.....!!!!

Good to see HER-- a face and voice of Today's YUVA, they think positivly and are aware of their surroundings and tradition(whether know rituals in detail or not)....think about their career or hobby and life PASSIONATLY....and is YOUTH OF SUBSTANCE...!!!

I WISH THEY BECOME MORE N MORE ..BALANCED WITH TIME AND SEE BOTH SIDES OF COINS, BEFORE TAKING ANY DECISIONS IN LIFE.
